In general, our 2nd generation MagicTrap works in exactly the same way as the previous version. There are some differences in the use of the device, which can be found here.
Of course, we have also technically revised the device so that it is even better adapted to the conditions in the field. We have put together an overview of the changes below:
- Improved antenna: A new antenna has been installed in the camera modules, which further increases the transmission power.
- Higher camera resolution: Our new module has a camera with a resolution of 16 megapixels. This makes it possible to take much sharper pictures than with the previous module, which has a resolution of 8 megapixels.
- Autofocus: Thanks to the integrated autofocus, our new camera offers sharper images even under difficult conditions. It therefore offers significantly more flexibility in use than the camera of the 1st generation module with fixed focus.
- Flash: In addition to the improved camera, a flash is now also installed. If the external conditions are too dark, the MagicTrap 2 recognizes this and activates the flash.
- LED status bars: This change immediately catches the eye: instead of one LED bar with 3 built-in LEDs, the MagicTrap 2 has two separate LED bars, each with 4 LEDs, so that the status of the device can be determined at a glance.
- One bar indicates the battery charge level, while the other bar displays the signal strength.
- Additionally, there is a separate LED that flashes during data upload.
- GPS module: The device now has an integrated GPS module for determining location. These are not yet available in the app, which means the location must be changed manually when setting up.
Available soon: We are working on making the GPS information available in the app too! - Improved weather protection: Like the first generation, the MagicTrap 2 is designed for the adverse conditions in the field. A few exemplary adaptations are: The screw mounts or improved seals. However, please remove the trap from the field during the off-season to store it in optimum condition (dry, no frost, good battery).
